Blogging is good for Health

Holidays are boring but when holidays are over, u miss them and look forward to them..  Sometimes, i dont even know wad i want to say in my blog post.. I am at a loss of words. I like to stare at my blog and feel a sense of pride overwhelming me when i update my blog. Somehow, the more i stare, the more i feel that no one is reading my blog and i feel that i seem to be talking to myself. But anyway, a blog is good. It allows u to ''talk to yourself" . It allows u to let out all ur feelings and emotions and u will let out everything on ur mind. A blog, is healthy cos, talking to urself allows u to let out all ur feelings so u will not have anything bottled up. Bottling your feelings is not good for health.. :) Blogging is a 'psychological therapy' where u talk to urself or , someone(if there is anyone reading ur blog), about ur feelings. Without anything on ur mind bothering u or any 'emotions constipation ' (emotions constipation = difficult letting out ur feelings) , u will sleep sweetly and i'm sure u will have sweet dreams. :D z.zzz  I have insomnia for twice during the sch holidays now. But, after blogging, i no longer have insomnia. When i say that i have nth to blog about, the more i blog, the more i have to say.. I better stop here for now before i think of more things to say. If there are any more things, i'll leave it for the nxt blog post to say.. :D

Acid Attacks in HK

[ CREDITS TO : "My Paper 我报" ; Singapore Newspaper. I briefly translated a part of the news report to English. Its original language is mandarin. ]        Lately, there are many cases about Acid Attack in Hong Kong. Rewards have been offered to those who give more info about the case. Experts believe that the acid attacks that had happened in Mongkok and Causeway Bay might be the same culprit. Both incident in Mongkok and Causeway Bay, the culprit threw the acid down the high building where the security guard is slacking and not doing his duty. And, the plastic package that is used to hold the acid chemical which is thrown down the high building is the same in both incidents. The acid brand which is used is similar and could be bought in the nearby district. The acid is purposely thrown towards the area where there are many people ; showing that the culprit purposely throw the acid towards the area where there are many people. The acid attacks usually occurs during Saturday night... Hope the HK police quickly crack this case. Many Hongkongers are displeased over this matter. [ TIPS : Try to walk in sheltered areas to avoid acid attack.]

"说好话,做好事,存好心"

Warning! : Contains Spoilers. Wow the last episode for 宫心计 Beyond the Realm of Conscience was good. It came out as i had expected except for Lau Sam Ho ( starring Charmaine Sheh) had end up together with Go Him Yeung ( starring Kevin Cheng). I wasnt pleased abt it at all. I prefer Lau Sam Ho to end up together with the emperor ( starring Moses Chan) . Yiu Gam Ling ( starring Tavia Yeung) claims that everyone in the palace wants to gain fame and power and thus have to come up with 不择手段 to gain favourism from the emperor. Gam Ling believes that in the palace, 不是你死,就是我亡。Lau Sam Ho however, has her own philosophy. Lau Sam Ho's motto : 说好话,做好事,存好心。Sam Ho believes that as long as one has a clear conscience, one will have nothing to fear for no obstacles will overcome him. Gam Ling had harm many innocent lives for the sake of her own benefits. She had done many things beyond her conscience. In the end, Sam Ho proves Gam Ling wrong and Gam Ling has her own retribution. Though Gam Ling was not executed in the end, i believe she already knows her own mistakes. The ending has a moral in the story after all : Good always triumph over evil. (好人有好报,坏人有坏报).

INSOMNIA!!

Woke up in the middle of the night at 3 a.m today.. The sky was still dark and i tried to fall asleep. Unfortunately i cant sleep ! I tossed and turned around in bed for an hour or so and i still cant sleep. I tried all sorts of methods like shutting my eyes and counting sheeps. I still cant sleep after counting to the 100th sheep. I got frustrated and looked at the clock. 4.30 a.m ! Still not asleep. I kinda felt sleepy but i just cant sleep. I decided to play with my handphone games til 7 plus in the morning. I went to brush my teeth and cook some instant noodles for breakfast and read some newspapers. When i'm done, i went to watch some television programmes. Not long after, my family members woke up one after another. Now, it is 5 plus in the afternoon, while i'm blogging, i feel sleepy and drowsy... yawn. z.z..z.. *dozed off in front of the computer screen* and *snores*... *saliva dripping onto the table*

最佳女配角~谢雪心《巾帼枭雄》

我最喜爱的电视女角色~姚金铃(杨怡)
飞跃进步男艺员~敖嘉年
飞跃进步女艺员~陳茵媺
最佳表现大奖~杨怡

Well, I watched the TVB萬千星輝頒獎典禮2009 on 4th Dec 2009 which is a friday night. I have mixed feelings about it . I was excited, anxious, happy, disappointed, furious, curious, confused etc. I felt like i was having an emotional outbreak.
I felt excited and anxious and curious because i wanted to know "WHO??" will be the best actor and actress of the year and whether my favourite actor,(Dayo Wong Tze Wah aka 黃子華), will win any award.
I felt happy cos the emcee (Carol Cheng Yuk Ling aka Dodo 姐)was very humorous. She questioned a few actors and actress before the results of the winners were announced. She asked if they were confident in winning the award. It was comical to watch the actors and actress give their answers. They were unsure but somehow tried to STAY and LOOK and SAY they are confident. Most of them said they are confident to win the award but the confidence is given by the support and encouragement of their fellow colleagues. The emcee got bored -.- listening to their same answers.. :D ^^
Disappointment overcame me when i found out tad my favourite actor,(Dayo Wong Tze Wah aka 黃子華) , was absent. He did not attend this award ceremony. I felt better when i found out tad he was at least nominated into two category, << 最佳男主角 and 我最喜爱的电视男角色>> as the top strongest, best five actor. He was supposed to be given a small award for being in the top five but due to his absence, he was not able to retrieve his award tad day.
I was confused about Bosco Wong aka 黄宗泽 being nominated into the top five category. Many netizens were displeased about this matter.
Lastly, I am furious when Wayne Lai aka 黎耀祥 won the << 最佳男主角 and 我最喜爱的电视男角色>> . How i WISH (Dayo Wong Tze Wah aka 黃子華) could win one of the awards.. Wayne Lai won so many awards. SO UNFAIR! hmph. @#$%^&*!!

Cantonese Slangs

Came across this on a website.(not mine)Clicking on the post title will link u to the original page whr i got this. Someone translated it to english meanings.

菲士
fei see

This is supposed to sound like the English word "face", as to saving face, or to give me face. Face is a very important thing to the Chinese, it's hard for me to explain if you have no idea what it is, so i'll give an example... if a gentleman holds up his wine glass to you and offers to "clink" with your glass, and you refuse, you're not giving him face! The term is exactly the same as 面子 (meen zi).

唔该
ng goy (or goi?)

Simply means thanks, im sure most already know this. If you want to say thank you very very much, you add 晒 (saai) at the end.

lek

A simple term that is used to praise someone. If you're just using it in general terms, you should say 你好叻 (nei hou lek) you are very good, very skilled, did very well, etc. If you are praising someone younger than you, like a child, for a boy you can say 叻仔 (lek jaai) which means "attaboy!", girl is 叻女 (lek nui) "good going girl!". An example would be, you can't open a jar, so you give it to some kid and he helps you open it, you can pat him on the head or shoulder and say 叻仔! (okay, poor example, a better one would be if he won some kind of competition or scored high on a school test)

湿湿碎
sap sap sui

One of my favorite terms, it means small matter, and is a term used arrogantly. Usually used when someone gives you a job or errand, or asks you to help him/her on something, and you feel it is a small thing or very easy, you say 湿湿碎. Add 啦 (lah) at the end, and wave your hand at the air, for cooler effect.

搞掂
gaau dim (deem?)

This term simply means "job done", or I'm done. Usually used when you're finished with an errand, or a favor someone asked you to do, you brush off your hands and say 搞掂. Mostly heard from service people like plumbers, electricians, said after they've done fixing your house. Again, 啦 (lah) is commonly added at the end.

麻麻哋
mah mah dei

This term means "so-so", for example when someone asks you if you liked that food. However, it is more and more commonly used to describe something as "not very good", or downright poor, but used in good manner (like your wife's cooking!). Very commonly used along with rocking your palm like a boat.

黐线
chi seen (sin?)

Again most probably know this, it simply means crazy. 黐 (chi) means sticky, 线 (seen) means a line or string, put together i'm pretty sure it is used to describe that two nerves in your brain has stuck together, making you crazy.

波士
boh si

It means "boss", even the pronunciation is similar, bo-see.

鬼佬
gwai lo

Meaning foreigner, im sure 99% of foreigners nowadays are familiar with this

冚家铲
haam ga chaan

Well this is a swear word, but i guess there's no harm in learning actually, im not too sure about the origins, 冚 (haam) means all/everyone, 家 (ga) im sure many knows this means family, and finally 铲 (chaan) means to shovel. In cantonese it means to die (to shovel your grave), so put together, it is used to swear to someone that their entire family will die! @.@

炒鱿鱼
chaau you yu

First word is fry, last two words means squid. What is fried squid, you ask? It means you are fired! It is believed that the origin came from the image of that back in the old days, when someone was fired, he would roll up his bed sheets and leave. The image was probably linked to squid being fried in hot oil, it would roll up!

顶硬上
ding ngaang sheung

A fairly obscure slang, it means to stick with someone or something until the very end. 顶 (ding) means to push or to stop something from falling down, 硬上 (ngaang sheung) means to push something hard or difficult, upwards. Like dealing with a tricky situation. This term came from a song sang by labor workers in Hong Kong a long time ago, their jobs were usually to lift heavy things at the harbor, so they sang the song through difficult times. In modern day, it is not used that commonly, but an example would be when your company is in a difficult situation, your boss is asking you and your co-workers if they want to jump ship, and you feel that you still have a fighting chance and decide to stick with him until the very end... so you say BOSS! 顶硬上!

识嘟
sik doo

识 (sik) means to know, to understand, and 嘟 {doo} is the sound of the english word "do". It simply means "you know what to do". A very commonly used term, usually used in "obvious" situations. Let's say your friend won some money through the lottery or horse racing, in that situation you would tell him "识嘟啦" (sik doo lah)... "you know what to do!" (obviously to treat everyone to dinner! a more amusing example would be, when a spoiled teenager wants to go out but has no money, he would stick out his hand at his father and say "识嘟啦"... although I suppose in some places like England, he would get a nice swat rather than a currency

Beyond the Realm of Conscience 宮心計 (TVB 2009)

Imperial Household Bureau is responsible for managing and directing all household services to the Emperor and the Imperial family in Tong Dynasty. It is comprised of four departments, namely Jewels, Attire, Food and Furnishings. LAU SAM HO (Charmaine Sheh) and YIU KAM LING (Tavia Yeung) are introduced into the bureau in their tender age and brought up in the disciplines of the palace. The two girls are diligent. YUEN TSUI WAN (Susanna Kwan), Head of the Jewels, and CHUNG SUET HA (Michelle Yim), Head of the Attire, are both very fond of HO for she is a kind-hearted young girl. Soon, they start fighting for the fellowship of HO.

HO always remembers her mother's words left to her before she passed away, that she was told, 'Doing good deeds, Speaking good words, Showing goodwill'. She lives her life of being gracious and kind-hearted in the palace. On the other hand, LING believes her survival in palace is achieved through cruel and calculating tactics. She cheats and schemes her way to the top and finally becomes the concubine. Though she realizes that HO has fallen in love with the chess master KO HIN YEUNG (Kevin Cheng), her jealousy still arouses by HO's attraction to the Emperor LEE YI (Moses Chan). Fearing that she is losing power, she ruthlessly makes up a false allegation against HO for murdering the Empress (Mary Hon) and condemns her to death. No matter how clever she is to scheme, things do not go the way she planned. By using a strong comparison of the two distinctive characters, HO and LING, the message of the drama is that "benevolence" is the only way to gain final victory.

Later, he learns that his mentor's wife SHE MO LIN (Theresa Lee) is in great debt and he starts selling "business tactics" to the trader TONG KAT (Hui Shiu Hung) for LIN's debt recovery. Deadbeat SONG refuses to take a full time job and that makes his income change from day to day. A tough collection agent, LAM MIU MIU (Sheh Charmaine), tries every means to push him into a corner. They keep playing tricks on each other and finally become a pair of rival lovers.

Men Dont Cry 奸人堅 (TVB 2007)

Men Don't Cry (Traditional Chinese: 奸人堅) is a TVB period comedy series broadcast in October 2007. The series is shown to celebrate TVB's 40th Anniversary. The shown is currently rerun on Thursday, January 29, 2009 to February 26, 2009 from Monday to Friday at 12:05am on TVB Jade in Hong Kong.

The Chinese title is a reference to Shi Jian, whom had played as villains in many Wong Fei Hung movies featuring Kwan Tak Hing as Wong Fei Hung, and later in TVB's television series.[1]

Reversing the trends set by previous Wong Fei Hung stories, the title archvillain assumes the leading role of the series, with Wong Fei Hung as the supporting role.

[edit] Synopsis
With the support of the head of the Police Authority, Guangzhou’s top villain Ho Kei-Kin (Dayo Wong) has been riding roughshod over everyone around him. He is so manipulative that he has explored every possible means in his fight for a house with the buck-toothed owner Ling Yuk Tsui (Cecilia Yip).

However, he was originally a kind-hearted person. His change of heart was due to him being mistreated by his father back when he was a child. His father once nailed him inside the coffin, which led to his fear of being trapped in the dark. When he grew up, his father left the town with one of his many mistresses and her son. When Kin went to confront his father, the father retorts and says that Kin wasn't really his biological son, saying that some stranger is his father. His father also said that he glad to have a son who is more skilled than him and that Kin is nothing but a weakling to him. After that, he left by boat. Angry by this, Kin cursed at his father, his mistress and their son, saying that they won't live to regret this. When he tried to redeem himself by fighting the town's crime lord, he was defeated by not only the crime lord but also the townspeople. Fed up with the town, he causes chaos to the town by wrecking and burning some stalls. As the crime lord and the townspeople were about to subdue him, one of his henchman told him that the boat that carried Kin's father exploded and that everyone on that boat died, including his father, his mistress and his son. Kin said that he was happy that happened because they had insulted him and that his prophecy of them not living to regret it had come true. He also declares that he won't go by his given name. He will only go by the nickname Gan Yan-Kin (Bully Kin). He decided that to get through life, he must treat others really badly as they have treated him.

Tsui is happy to have met the upright and honorable Wong Fei-Hung (Dominic Lam). Interested in stirring up trouble, Kin tries to recruit more students for his kung-fu school by portraying himself as the hero who has defeated one of the Ten Tigers of Guangdong Wong Kei-Ying. For the sake of fairness, Hung is resolved to have a contest with Kin. Unfortunately, Kin manages to make Hung give in with the help of the ancestral tablet of his late father. Thinking that he is a hopeless coward, Tsui decides to break off her engagement to Hung. Kin quickly grabs the chance and begins to woo Tsui. Tsui agrees to transfer her house to Kin after much persuasion from him. Kin shows his true colors as soon as he has secured the property. Tsui is left homeless and has to put up at Po Chi Lam, the martial arts club/medicine shop set up by Hung. Kin has lost his power and soon becomes an object of contempt and hatred. With nowhere else to go, he decides to turn to Hung and asks to be his apprentice. Hung has tried his best to bring out the human side of Kin, for which he has received a lot of criticism from others. Despite Hung’s support, Kin does not repent and behaves even worse than before, leaving Po Chi Lam in a state of total chaos…

Kin's plan was unveiled when Wong Fei Hung tried to win the 3rd lion dancing competition, where Wong Fei Hung realized he had drank the soup with five stone powder (a form of ancient narcotic) added by Kin. Kin offered the choice of soup or lose the competition. Wong Fei Hung won the contest without the soup, but Wong did not tell others about the incident. Disillusioned by Wong's unusual integrity, Kin decided to live up to Wong Fei Hung's reputation.

After the arrests of gang leader Chiu Man Ting and officer Fong Tin Yuen, Wong Fei Hung began to lose his vision as a result of the drugs. Wong Fei Hung appointed Kin to run Po Chi Lam, despite objections by others. Despite Kin's attempts to help his fellow fighters, they ended up making things worse. Former associate Kam Chin-Pao mistaken believed Kin became Po Chi Lam leader was a plan to take over the street as gang leader, so Kam Chin-Pao started started a gang of his own...
